One of the most important questions is how you secure your livelihood in Germany. You have several options for this. We have put together for you here what exactly you need to consider.
What is a blocked account? A blocked account is a bank account where access to the account balance is restricted or not possible. In the visa application process, a blocked account serves as proof of sufficient financial resources to finance the planned stay.
The amount in the blocked account is adjusted every year.
As of January 1, 2023, the assumed annual standard requirement, which must be paid into the blocked account at the time of visa application, is 11,208 euros.
It is important that the following requirements are met:
The account may only allow the withdrawal of a certain amount per month (currently 934 euros for students).
The blocking account may only be closed with the consent of a blocking beneficiary. The blocking beneficiary is either the foreign mission or, after entry, the competent foreigners authority. A blocked account therefore only ensures that sufficient funds are always available to secure subsistence. It does not entitle the blocking beneficiary to access the blocked account.
There are various organizations that offer scholarships. In the future we will inform you here about the requirements in detail.

Another way to prove that you can finance yourself is the declaration of commitment.
What is a declaration of commitment?
If you do not have the financial means to finance your stay in Germany, family members from Germany can submit a declaration of commitment to a German immigration authority for you. This person hereby undertakes to be financially liable or guarantor for you. One often speaks of an invitation to Germany.
As a rule, you should still go to work. The declaration of commitment is only intended to protect against emergencies.
In the future, we will explain exactly which requirements must be met in order for the authorities to accept the declaration of commitment. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we update this page.
The German state tries to protect its citizens in an emergency. Depending on their status, this also applies to foreign citizens. In the future we will explain to you here under which conditions you can receive social benefits from the state. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we update this page.
