The processing time for a national visa for Germany may vary depending on the type of visa, the embassy or consulate issuing it and the individual circumstances of the applicant. However, it usually takes between four and twelve weeks for a national visa to be issued.
However, in some cases it may take longer, especially if further verification is required or if the consulate or embassy has to process a high number of applications. Therefore, it is advisable to submit the application as early as possible to avoid possible delays.
Each applicant can significantly influence the duration of the procedure by starting to prepare the documents required for the purpose of the stay (including any necessary certifications) in good time and by submitting everything as completely as possible. This avoids later document requirements from the German authorities from the outset.
